I did the run/walk thing like I said I was going to- very pleased with myself cos it really was a slog! There was a group of anglers with their barby going at 7am and the delicious smell of sausages and onions (so cruel!!) Each time I passed them they yelled out encouragement and promised a 'sanger'. One lap of the lake they actually met me at a junction with the 'sanger'!! Spoke to them after and they were really nice ( Didn;t have the eats- I never eat sausages, eggs or bacon- just enjoy the aroma!)
Their encouragement did help though and did a lot to relieve the boredom!
I think I'll try and keep 9km as the base run and just extend the run/walk. It was interesting that it took me the same time to run 9 and run/walk 3 as it did to run 6 and run/walk 6km!
