Bastille Day today and in honour of it there were some French recipes being talked about on the radio this morning. How about this for starters- Thick pork sausage, boiled and then sliced up and served on lentils ( lentils sound good!) Then mashed potatoes the French way- lots and lots of butter and fairly sloppy. Sometimes even a 30/30/30 approach ( lol- not sure what happened to the other 10) 30% potato 30% cream 30% butter!! I'm thankful I'm not French!!!!!

And yet you don't see too many fat French people in France. I think it's all about portion sizes.

Those 10% got lost in the translation LOL... I make my mash very similar and I can tell you it's a third of potato, third of butter and a third of cream, though for the weight conscious I am now using warmed skim milk and low fat spread at greatly reduced amounts... Still tastes good though :)...

Ah... it's the red wine that goes with ever meal that keeps those French looking so lean.
